Frequently Asked Questions about Xero Integration

How do I sync my deposits to Budgetly?

In Xero, navigate to Reconcile screen of the bank account you used to deposit money to Budgetly. Reconcile the deposit as a Transfer to Budgetly account.


How do I disconnect from Xero?

In Budgetly select Xero > Configure > Disconnect Xero. This will not remove records of your synced data and you can reconnect at any time. Contact us you would like to completely remove all sync records.

What doesn’t your integration do?

Changes made to transactions in Xero are not synced back to Budgetly. Changes to Transactions (update of Category, Note, Budget or GST) after they are synced are not sent to Xero. Removing a receipt in Budgetly will not remove it from Xero if already synced.

How do I reconcile transactions synced to Xero?

This is described in Using the Xero Integration.

When and how does data sync occur?

Trigger transaction sync manually by clicking on the Sync button. This will sync all Settled transactions which have a category set.

Can I sync to multiple Xero Organisations?

One Budgetly company can only be synced with a single Xero Organisation. If you are running multiple businesses, separate Budgetly companies for each can be the best setup. Please contact us for more information.

How is GST handled?

GST can be entered in Budgetly.io and our mobile apps. When not entered, it is automatically calculated during sync to Xero based on Tax Rate of selected Account (Category in Budgetly). Edit the transaction in Xero if calculated GST is incorrect.

What should I do after updating Chart of Accounts in Xero?

After you add or remove Xero Accounts or modify Account codes, open Categories page in Budgetly, ensure all mapping is correct and click Save.

What should I do after modifying Tracking Categories in Xero?

After you add or remove a Tracking Category or their options, open Xero Configuration page in Budgetly, ensure the correct Tracking categories are mapped and click Update.
