Have you linked Xero and Budgetly? If so, your categories and tags are edited a little differently.
Not using Xero? Follow these steps to edit your Categories and/or Tags.
When first linking Budgetly to Xero, you would have set up some categories that link with your Xero Chart of Accounts and may have brought your Tracking Categories across into Tags. This article takes you through how to make changes to these after the initial setup.
Categories
(Chart of Accounts in Xero)
If you need to add new Categories in Budgetly, you may be looking for a "Categories" section in the menu.
For our Xero integration users, Categories are found within the Xero section.
-
Navigate to Settings in the main menu
- Select Xero from the list under the Settings menu.
- When you reach the Xero page, click on the Configure option.
- Within the Configure settings, select the option to Edit categories.
- In this section, you can choose to create new categories, modify existing ones, or delete categories as needed.
- After you have finished making your adjustments, remember to click on the "Save changes" button to ensure that your changes are applied successfully.
Tags
When utilizing Tracking Categories in Xero, Tags can function differently in Budgetly. You may have two sets of Tags in Budgetly - one is directly imported from your Tracking Categories in Xero, while the other set can be created separately within Budgetly but will only be visible in notes after syncing with Xero.
From Tracking Categories in Xero
Tags pulled from your Tracking Categories are found within the Xero section, similar to the categories.
- Navigate to Settings in the main menu.
- Select Xero from the list under the Settings menu.
- When you reach the Xero page, click on the Configure option.
- Here you will have a tick box that can be toggled on or off:
"Map tracking categories to Budgetly tags" - When ticked, your Tracking Category group titles will appear below.
Toggle them on or off with the button. - As these are pulled directly from Xero, they cannot be changed in Budgetly. If you wish to edit them, do so in Xero and simply click Update in the Budgetly Xero settings to refresh the syncronisation.
