Multi-factor authentication (MFA) adds a second verification step when you log in — your password plus a code from SMS or an authenticator app.
| MFA method | How it works |
|---|---|
| SMS | A 6-digit code is sent to your phone via text |
| Authenticator app | A 6-digit code is generated in your app (Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, etc.) |
Note: MFA is mandatory for admins. It’s optional for regular users unless your company enforces it.
How to log in with MFA
- Open the Budgetly app or go to budgetly.io/login.
- Enter your email and password.
- When prompted, enter the 6-digit code from your SMS or authenticator app.
- Click Verify to proceed.
Setting up MFA
If you haven’t set up MFA yet, see How to set up MFA (authenticator app or SMS) for step-by-step instructions.
Common questions
What if I don't receive my SMS code?
Check your mobile signal and ensure the correct number is on file. Try again — if it still doesn’t arrive, contact support.
Can I switch from SMS to an authenticator app?
Yes. Go to My profile > Security, disable your current MFA method, then set up the new one.
I lost access to my authenticator app. What do I do?
Contact support to have MFA reset on your account. You’ll need to set it up again once reset.
