Budgetly’s Xero integration syncs transactions, receipts, categories, and tags directly to your Xero account. Here’s everything you need to know.
1. Connect Budgetly to Xero
Link your accounts, create a Xero bank account for Budgetly, and map your categories to the Chart of Accounts.
Read the full guide: How to connect Budgetly to Xero.
2. Sync transactions
Review and sync settled transactions to Xero with receipts attached. Only categorised, settled transactions can be synced.
| Requirement | Details |
|---|---|
| Settled | Merchant and card network have reconciled the payment |
| Categorised | Must have a category assigned |
| Receipts | Optional — attach before or after sync |

3. Understand what data flows
Budgetly sends far more than a standard bank feed — merchant name, category, GST, receipt, budget, user, tags, and notes all sync in one go.
Read the full guide: Data flow between Budgetly and Xero.
4. Manage categories and tags with Xero
When Xero is connected, categories map to your Chart of Accounts and tags can map to Tracking Categories. Both are managed through the Xero settings.
Read the full guide: Editing categories and tags with Xero.
5. Update tags from Xero
When you add or change Tracking Categories in Xero, trigger a manual refresh in Budgetly to pull the latest tags.

6. Configure sync settings
Manage your connection, category mapping, and sync mode (review-then-sync or automated) from the Xero configuration page.
