Understanding transaction limits

Budgetly cards have spending limits that apply per transaction, per day, and by payment method.

Card spending limits

Limit typeAmount
Single transaction$300,000 AUD
Daily card spend$300,000 AUD
Contactless (tap) per day$500 AUD — insert physical card for higher amounts
Cloud-based transactions$500/month (digital wallet via browser, smartwatch, or device without secure chip)

Note: All limits include both domestic and international transactions.

ATM withdrawal limits

LimitAmount
Daily ATM cash out$10,000 AUD

Important: ATM limits apply across all cards linked to the same user. If you have multiple cards, the limits are shared between them.

Additional security

  • For in-store payments over $100 AUD, you may need to enter your PIN.
  • Some merchants require a one-time password (OTP) sent via SMS or email.
  • Transactions are declined if the budget balance is insufficient, regardless of the company balance.

Tip: If you’re travelling overseas, use a physical card for the most reliable experience.

Common questions

Can my admin increase my transaction limit?
Per-transaction and daily limits are set by the card provider and can’t be changed. Your admin can increase your budget limit if that’s what’s restricting your spend.
Why was my contactless payment declined even though I have enough budget?
Contactless (tap) payments are limited to $500 AUD per day. Insert your physical card for higher amounts.
Do ATM limits apply per card or per user?
Per user. If you have multiple cards, the daily ATM limit is shared across all of them.
