How to edit a transaction

You can edit several properties on a transaction to help with tracking and reconciliation.

How to edit a transaction

  • Click Transactions in the sidebar.
  • Select the transaction you want to edit by clicking the merchant name.
  • Make your changes on the edit form.
  • Click Save transaction.

Important: Editing a transaction in Budgetly does not update the transaction in Xero. If the transaction has already been synced, update it in Xero separately.

Common questions

Can I delete a transaction?
No. Transactions cannot be deleted — they are a permanent record of card activity. You can edit the details but the transaction itself stays.
Can a regular user change the budget on a transaction?
No. Only admins can reassign a transaction to a different budget.
Will my edits sync to Xero?
No. Changes made in Budgetly after a transaction has been synced are not pushed to Xero. Update the transaction in both systems if needed.
