How to use action logs

Action logs provide a complete audit trail of everything that happens in your Budgetly account.

Budget logsCreated, edited, top-ups, money requests, paused, archived

How to access action logs

  • Click Action logs in the sidebar.
  • By default, logs show the last 30 days of activity.

Filtering logs

Use the filters to narrow down log entries:

  • Date range — select a start and end date for a specific period.
  • Type — filter by action type (e.g. card actions, budget changes, user updates).

Where to find logs

Action logs appear on almost every page in Budgetly. You can view logs specific to a user, card, budget, or transaction by opening that item and checking its log tab. To view all logs in one place, use the Action logs page in the sidebar.

Who can see logs

  • Admins see all logs across the company.
  • Users see logs related to their own actions only.

Understanding declined transaction logs

When a card transaction is declined, the reason appears in the action logs.

Common questions

How far back do action logs go?
Action logs are retained based on your plan — 3 years on Essentials, 5 years on Premium, and 7+ years on Enterprise.
Can I export action logs?
Action logs can be viewed and filtered in Budgetly but are not currently exportable as a file. Use the date range and type filters to find what you need.
Can a regular user see who made changes to their budget?
Users can see logs related to their own actions. Budget-level logs showing all changes are visible to admins and budget owners.
