The Budgetly inbox replaces most email alerts with real-time, actionable notifications inside the app. Here’s what you need to know.
1. What the inbox shows you
The inbox delivers receipt reminders, money request alerts, approval updates, and system messages. Every user gets it on all plans — no setup required.
| Message type | When it’s sent |
|---|---|
| Receipt reminders | 2h and 24h after a transaction if a receipt is missing |
| Money requests | When a user requests funds from a budget |
| Approval updates | When a request is approved or declined |

2. Push notifications follow up on mobile
Push notifications alert you on your phone when something needs attention — a pending approval, a missed receipt, or a money request. Tapping the notification opens the inbox or the relevant screen.
Tip: If push notifications are disabled on your phone, messages still appear in your inbox.
3. Receipt reminders chase you automatically
After a transaction, Budgetly sends up to three reminders if a receipt is missing: an instant notification, a 2-hour reminder, and a 24-hour follow-up. Reminders stop once the receipt is uploaded or marked as not required.
4. Control which notifications you receive
From My profile > Notifications, you can toggle Email, Inbox, and Push notifications by importance level. Critical notifications (fraud, security) can’t be turned off.
| Importance | Can you turn it off? |
|---|---|
| Critical | No — always on |
| Action | Partially |
| Update | Yes |
| Info | Yes |

5. Messages expire after 45 days
Inbox messages are stored for 45 days, then automatically removed. Act on important notifications before they expire — expired messages can’t be recovered.
