Pausing a budget temporarily prevents all members from spending against it. You can resume it at any time.
How to resume a paused budget
- Click Budgets in the sidebar.
- Click on the paused budget (it will show a Paused status indicator).
- Click the Resume budget button at the top right of the budget detail page.

Important: Only admins with the Manage all budgets permission can resume a paused budget.
What happens when a budget is paused
- All cards linked to the budget will have transactions declined if they attempt to spend from it.
- The budget’s balance and history are preserved.
- Members can still view the budget but cannot spend.
