Budgetly’s GST extraction tool automatically reads the GST amount from uploaded receipts and adds it to the transaction, eliminating manual data entry.
How does it work?
- A user uploads a photo or PDF of their receipt to a transaction.
- Budgetly’s AI reads the receipt and extracts the GST component.
- The extracted GST appears in the GST field on the transaction.
- A status indicator shows the result — Extracted, Not found, or Pending.
Tip: You can always manually enter or correct the GST amount, even after automatic extraction.
How to enable GST extraction
GST extraction is controlled at the company level:
- Click Settings in the sidebar, then select Preferences.
- On the General tab, toggle Enable GST extraction on.
- Click Save preferences.
Important: GST extraction is available on Premium plans and above. On Essentials plans, the toggle shows a “Premium plan” badge. Compare plans here.
When doesn’t it work?
The tool may not extract GST if:
- The image is too blurry or dark.
- The receipt is crumpled, ripped, or faded.
- The receipt doesn’t list a GST amount.
- The file format isn’t supported.
If extraction is unsuccessful, the status shows GST extraction unsuccessful and you can enter the GST manually.
Can I override it?
Yes. If the extracted GST is incorrect, open the transaction, update the GST field with the correct amount, and click Save transaction.
