6 steps to set up your Budgetly account

Getting your Budgetly account live involves a handful of steps — most take minutes, and you can complete them in any order. Here’s everything you need to cover.

1. Choose your plan

Budgetly offers three plans — Essentials, Premium, and Enterprise. The right plan depends on your team size and the features you need.

2. Complete compliance verification

Before you can issue cards or deposit funds, your business needs to pass compliance checks. This includes verifying your business details, ownership structure, and authorised signatory identity.

Tip: Most verifications complete within 1–3 business days. You can add users and create budgets while you wait.

3. Open your Spend Account

Your Spend Account is the wallet that holds your company’s funds. It opens automatically once compliance verification is complete. Once open, you’ll see your balance on the Dashboard.

4. Add your team

Invite your employees, assign roles (Admin, User, or Accountant), and set them up before issuing cards. There’s no limit on the number of users — only cards are counted against your plan.

5. Create budgets and issue cards

Set spending limits with budgets, then issue virtual or physical Visa cards to your team. Virtual cards are available instantly; physical cards arrive in 3–15 business days.

6. Deposit funds and start spending

Verify a bank account, then transfer funds into your Spend Account. Once the deposit clears, your team can start spending immediately.

How long does the full setup take?
Most of the setup takes minutes. The main wait is compliance verification, which typically completes within 1–3 business days.
Can I set up Budgetly myself or do I need help?
You can complete the entire setup yourself. If you’d prefer guided support, the Assisted and Full-service onboarding options include live training sessions.
Do I need to complete the steps in this order?
Not strictly. You can add users and budgets before your Spend Account is open, but you’ll need the Spend Account before issuing cards or depositing funds.
Can I add a second business later?
Yes. You can add additional businesses to your account at any time. Each business has its own Spend Account, users, and billing. See How to add a second business.
