Step-by-step setup guides for MFA with an Authenticator app.
This guide takes you through enabling Budgetly's MFA with an Authentication app.
We recommend having an Authenticator app installed on your phone before reading the guide below. See a list of Authenticator apps here.
Budgetly.io (web browser)
- In the top right hand corner, click on the company name.
- Select 'My profile' for the drop down menu.
- Select Edit user.
- Once on this page, navigate to Security.
- Click Enable MFA.
- From the two options, select Authenticator app.
- Open your Authenticator app on your mobile device.
- Follow the prompts to add a new authenticator and select scan a QR code.
- Scan the QR code on the screen (or enter it in if you prefer!)
- You're all set! Next time you log in, you'll be asked to enter your second factor using your chosen MFA method. See more on that process here.
Mobile app
- Navigate to your Settings via the "More" button.
- Under Security, tap 'Enable MFA'.
- Select Authenticator app as your MFA method.
- Copy the code under the QR code.
- Open your Authenticator app.
- Follow the prompts to add a new authenticator, selecting 'setup key' as the option.
- Paste the setup key code you copied from Budgetly.
- Once added, copy your 6-digit code from the authenticator app.
- Go back to the Budgetly app.
- Paste the 6-digit code and tap 'verify code and enable'.
- You're all set! Next time you log in, you'll be asked to enter your second factor using your chosen MFA method. See more on that process here.
Compatible authenticator apps
Budgetly's multi-factor authentication can be used with most time-based authenticator applications.
Some common options include [but are not limited to]:
iPhone: Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Authy, Duo Mobile, 1Password.
Android: Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Authy, Duo Mobile, 1Password.
