How to set up and use multi-factor authentication in Budgetly

Budgetly provides robust account security through Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), requiring both a password and a secondary verification method—either SMS or an authenticator app—with MFA being compulsory for administrators. Users can easily enable MFA and manage their login credentials via the web or mobile app, including setting up, logging in, and resetting passwords when needed.

1. Understanding Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) enhances account security by requiring two forms of verification: your password and a secondary method. Budgetly supports two MFA options:

  • SMS Authentication: Receive a one-time code via text message.

  • Authenticator App: Use an app like Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator to generate time-based codes.

While MFA is optional for users, it's mandatory for admins.
